Twofer Tuesday–made it!
Whew. Today is Twofer Tuesday, isn’t it. Dang. Almost spaced. That’s what a couple days chillin, maxin and relaxin and droppin all kinds of g’s in wine country and away from the office will do to you. OK, back at it we are.
What I didn’t tell you about the brilliant Ballad of G.I. Joe is that after watching it, especially after repeated viewing, the phrase “Destro and The Baroness practicing their clarinets” will stay in your head on repeat for days.
Luckily, a quick trip to our amazing hand-crafted Pandora station fixed that with Cake’s Shadow Stabbing. And what’s real nice is that without a whole of stretching, that could be the tie-in for the twofer. Shadow Stabbing. Cobra Ninja aka Storm Shadow. Stabbing Shadow to get that song out of your head? See where I’m going?
OK. That is big a stretch. So, in the quirky way the world works, there are lyrics in Cake’s Shadow Stabbing that go “Adjectives on the typewriter,
He moves his words like a prizefighter” AND I just happened to also be getting down this morning with new stuff from EELS‘ new one, Hombre Lobo, including the rocking track Prize Fighter. And that’s a Twofer I can live with.

I did see this video here for Cake’s song, project from a kid at Emerson (at the time). Pales in comparison to this over HERE from another, more recently inspired student creating for Death Cab, but have to assume that that kid had the advantage of living in the future when he made his. Still. honorable mention.
BTW, if you’re not already down with EELS, be prepared for them (him, whatever) to be one of your new fav’s. For some spoon fed introductions, just check out his contributions to each of the Shrek Soundtracks, as well as a couple of the best Xmas tracks you’ll find on any Cool Yule mix.
