Love in Motion, A Second City 7 Day Short
For the last few months, I’ve been enrolled in improv classes at The Second City here in Chicago. I love it like crazy.
This short film is an entry in Second City’s 7 Day Shorts. It was screened on Tuesday, 8/31/10 in SC’s de Maat Theater. The small group of uber-kind and supportive folks in the audience seemed to dig it. I hope you do to.
Here’s how it works:
Every Tuesday night in the de Maat, the Second City Training Center’s hilarious faculty perform an improvised show based on a one or two-word suggestion from the audience. Then folks in The Second City Community have 7 days to create a short, two-minute film inspired by that same suggestion. The shorts are screened in front of a live audience the following Tuesday night before the faculty’s next performance. On Tuesday, Aug 24th, the audience suggestion was “love”.
I had the idea created the short in about 5 hours the Monday night before the screening. Shot with a Flip Video camera on a Gorillapod Tripod and a horrible PlayStation EyeToy cam, using iStopMotion and iMovie. The song is an original called “That Ol’ Magic River” by my talented classmate, Joe Dickinson. You can hear more of his stuff at joedickinson.com
That was too cool! How ever did you do that??
Thanks Kim! I used a mac program called iStopMotion (or something similar). Pretty neat stuff. Happy Holidays!
