Hungry at Whole Foods. Creamed Corn, No. Fantan Mojah, Yes.
I’ve decided to look past the folks at Whole Foods looking at me as if I said “Hi! I’m looking to feed my beautiful children here some rat poison for dinner. Can you please tell me what aisle that’s in?” when I innocently asked where I could find a can of creamed corn. (FYI, that would be in the aisle two block south on Canal, inside Dominick’s.)
I’m looking past that because, while I did walk out physically empty handed, I was able to shazam myself the song they had playing, and I love it.
Press this play button right here and enjoy Fantan Mojah’s “Hungry”, from the album Hail the King.
And if you like that, you’ll love my simple corn bread recipe that simply consists of a box of Jiffy mix cornbread, and substituting the milk for a small can of creamed corn (add maybe a tablespoon of milk), add an egg like the box says, and then toss in some diced jalapenos to taste. I use a cupcake pan with foil liners. If you like cornbread, try it. You’ll like it. I guarontee!
