House, Iron & Wine, Love Vigilantes

2009 September 21

House is back, I’m happy.  I forgot about the stellar music selections in that show.  As I just killed about an hour online trying to find out what song it was in the opening scene as House was strapped to his bed while going through withdrawals (I’m still looking, BTW), I remembered hearing a cool cover of New Order’s Love Vigilantes.  As suspected, it’s Iron & Wine behind those soft pipes and gentle strings.  You can dig it live below, and purchase the track here from iTunes

I guess it’s time for this generation to pay homage to the band (see Pete Yorn’s contribution). Definitely a resurgence abrewin’.

If you know that first song used in the show, please drop a line to aj@adamjoe.com.  I’ll be glad to send you an original doodle or something in return.  Thanks!

UPDATE: I can go to bed now.  Opening song was Radiohead’s No Surprises (thought it sounded familiar), and the song at the end, in case you need to finish up your scorecard as well, is The Frames’ Seven Day Mile.

“No Surprises” is one of the best Radiohead songs ever. My dad called me last night and hummed some of it to me…he had the same question. Weird that my father, in his mid-60′s, is getting in to Radiohead.

BTW, the new Thom Yorke stuff sounds absolutely fabulous. There may not be a better songwriter alive in his vein than Thom Yorke…discussion point over beers, soon, Adam!
